You can set your own personal instructions to prepare a syringe with a dilution. These instructions are displayed in the app and can be shared with colleagues.
To print labels, LabelSyringe uses the Brother QL-820N(WB) black-and-white printer, which is a small WiFi budget printer. An alternative system to colour coding labels is in development. The printer can create its own WiFi network or join an existing one. (Note that the application can also be used without a printer.)
The label and preparation can easily be double-checked by a second medical professional by scanning a QR-code. Both names will be placed on the label.
LabelSyringe does not need a continuous connection with the internet.
Create an account and log in to the web editor to edit the drug list. If used, also set up your printer.
Customise the instructions to prepare a dilution to your preference in the web editor. Examples of drug dilution records are available to edit and create your own. Specifically, for paediatric cases you can choose to dilute on weight base or specify ranges of dilutions in relation to weight.
Install the app on your phone. Log in using the same credentials as used in the editor to synchronise your records. An internet connection is only required to periodically synchronise these records.
Follow the instructions in the app to make your first preparation. Optionally, you can generate a QR-code and ask your colleague to scan the QR-code in his LabelSyringe app. Your colleague can, in turn, check and print the label. (Note that your colleague also needs an account to double-check.)
Give us your feedback on problems and request additional features. Please contact us to add users to your records. More information can be found in the wiki.
LabelSyringe is free for individual users. Even without a printer the software can be useful for streamlining drug preparation in your department.
Please contact us if you want to implement the software on your department(s) with multiple users and printers.
